About Rhodanthemum

Rhodanthemum are perennials or sub-shrubs with slender, grey-green lance-shaped leaves that cluster together to form attractive clumps and large daisy-like blooms. These plants are incredibly long-flowering lasting throughout spring, summer and even autumn. Rhodanthemum are best suited to flower beds and borders within courtyard, cottage and informal garden settings. They are also fantastic container plants. You should expect to see Rhodanthemum grow to an approximate height and spread of between 10-50cm (4-20”).

How to plant Rhodanthemum

Rhodanthemum are best planted in well-drained soil of sand, chalk and loam within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. When all risk of frost has passed, you may dig a hole that is as deep and as wide as the root ball, carefully placing your plants into position. Back fill the planting area and water thoroughly and deeply to settle the soil and encourage a healthy root system.

How to care for Rhodanthemum

Rhodanthemum should be fed and watered on a regular basis to thrive. During the autumn, you may apply a layer of mulch around the base of your plant which will retain moisture levels whilst suppressing weeds and providing vital nutrients. Leave any intact foliage or stems in place as this will provide some protection from cooler weather conditions. If temperatures are too low, you will need to provide additional protection or remove to a warmer environment.

How to propagate Rhodanthemum

It is possible to propagate Rhodanthemum by seed or alternatively by softwood cuttings.
