An exciting new arrival for 2024 which has evergreen, tongue-shaped foliage borne on stout and sturdy stems. As the name suggests, Hylotelephium ‘Back in Black’ has almost entirely black foliage if provided with at least six hours of sunshine per day and, from July through to October, offers starry pink flowers with a rich red centre. Blooms are held as branching clusters which have been likened to broccoli in form and make a wonderfully unusual inclusion in a floral display as well as providing vital sustenance to bees and other pollinators. Hylotelephium ‘Back in Black’ in a drought tolerant and easy-going perennial which reaches a height and spread of 60-70cm. Plant in well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in full sun or a small amount of shade where plants have a south or west facing aspect. A fully-hardy, evergreen perennial which does not need any additional protection over winter if planted in the ground.
