An incredibly hardy plant which copes well with frosty temperatures and is often seen growing in the mountainous Alps and Carpathians of Europe due to its robust nature. Polygala chamaebuxus ‘Grandiflora’ is a low-growing, evergreen shrub which is often delightfully called a ‘shrublet’. Fashions compact, frothy and bushy foliage made up of simple attractive green leaves, held in delicate clusters. Charming bundles of pea-shaped, purple-pink and yellow blooms perch upon the foliage in bold and eye-catching shades. Flowers, up to 12mm across, appear in profusions from around March to May, releasing their sweet tutti-frutti scent in clouds. Recognised by the RHS for its outstanding performance by their Award of Garden Merit. Polygala chamaebuxus ‘Grandiflora’ is an easy-going and versatile addition to a rock garden, the front of a border or a container. This fully hardy (H7), evergreen and drought tolerant plant. Prefers to be grown in well-drained soil of any type except clay, which benefits from full sun or partial shade. You can expect Polygala chamaebuxus ‘Grandiflora’ to grow to reach an approximate height of 10cm and a mature spread of 50cm.
