Tell Me More...
Impactful, bold, bright, and long flowering, Helianthus Double Whammy is a hardy sunflower certain to bring radiant sunshine into your summer and autumn garden, whatever the weather. The abundance of large, double, yellow blooms up to 15cm across, are hard to ignore with large petals surrounding the pom-pom-like central cone. A bright, eye-catching display from July to September, often longer, attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators into your garden for a feast. Strong, wiry stems hold the blooms above clumps of bright green foliage and ensure when used as a cut flower, Helianthus Double Whammy creates dramatic magnificence, lasting for up to two weeks in a vase. Create a relaxing prairie style scene by growing with grasses where they will mingle and weave together, swaying in the breeze. Alternatively, grow in a cottage garden or as a prominent beauty in more modern gardens. Helianthus Double Whammy prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Reaching a height of 90cm and spreading to 50cm, she is a fully hardy perennial to -15 C, thriving outside for years to come with no winter protection required. Dying back over the coldest months to sprout again in the spring.
