Now you can enjoy an abundance of this delicacy fresh from your own garden.From May to June, Asparagus officinalis 'Pacific Purple' provides high yields for a satisfying harvest. The stringless spears are long and thick, with a particularly tender, sweet taste. Lightly steam and serve or shave raw into salads to retain the vibrant purple colour.With an RHS hardiness rating of H4, asparagus is a hardy which produces bigger and better crops year after year with minimum maintenance. Feathery foliage reaches up to 1.5m in height and 45cm spread. Asparagus officinalis 'Pacific Purple'will thrive in richly fertile, well-drained soil with a neutral to alkaline pH. Plant in full sun and resist picking for the first year or two in order to allow plants to establish themselves for years of bumper cropping.
