Tell Me More...
An exciting new hybrid, shrub rose which repeat flowers from June to October each year. Rosa x odorata Mutabilis bears large, cup-shaped, single flowers, up to 6cm, across which shift in colour from yellow to peach then red as they mature. This means that several, different coloured blooms will appear at the same time - adding animated interest to the summer and autumn garden, assisting its transition between the seasons. Flowers have the additional benefits of being sparsely thorned and richly perfumed - with a sweet, musky scent which makes them perfect for a vase as well as outdoor planting. Petals can also be used in the kitchen for garnishing sweet and savoury dishes and, of course, making rosewater. Rosa x odorata Mutabilis can even be trained to scramble on trellis or wind its way through trees as it reaches a height of up to 2.1 metres. Plant in moist, rich, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun and any aspect other than north-facing. A hardy, deciduous shrub which spreads up to 2.5m and is drought tolerant once a good root structure has been established. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance.
