In early summer, majestic spires give height to your borders with a graceful and elegant charm. Often thought of as an old cottage garden favourite, they make a dramatic statement, demanding attention even in the most modern planting schemes. Incredibly floriferous, you will be greeted with an abundance of charming, elegant flowers in summer that are adored by pollinators. The blooms are also excellent for cutting for a vase. The name Delphinium, derives from the ancient Greek word for dolphin, referring to the shape of the flowers resembling the back of a dolphin as it dives through the waves. Also known commonly as Larkspur, after the claws of a lark. Tall and stately, Delphinium are the birth month flower for July, and it is easy to see why they have come to be known as the Queen of the Border. Hardy perennials, Delphinium will thrive outside all year round with no winter protection required.
