New for 2024, Phygelius Candy Drops Red is a compact, evergreen shrub which lends itself perfectly to filling gaps at the front of the border or planting in a special container as a focal point. Flowers are unmissably vibrant, with elongated, tubular blooms held from May to September in multiple clusters on long, strong stems. In looks they resemble a cross between a fuchsia and a penstemon and make a beautiful inclusion in a vase or other floral display - allowing you to enjoy their exotic looks inside too. Phygelius are native to South Africa where they are predominantly found on banks and damp, sloping ground. Plants are hardy to -10 C without any additional winter protection. Phygelius Candy Drops Red is a determined and robust shrub which reaches a height of 45cm and spreads up to 60cm once mature. As an evergreen it keeps its foliage throughout winter. However, should it lose a few leaves - do not be concerned it should reinvigorate and return the following spring.
