Aubrieta Katie Purple Shades is an eye-catching member of a very well-known family. Aubrieta are hardy perennials which are much loved as groundcover or for cascading through nooks and crevices in rockeries or garden walls. They grow in the wild in parts of Europe and Central Asia. Small, ovate, grey-green leaves are a little succulent-like in shape and can be evergreen in milder conditions. Aubrieta Katie Purple Shades will create a carpet of colour in spring and summer each year and once it has finished flowering a light trim will produce another flush of fresh green leaves. Aubrieta Katie prefers an east-facing aspect with some sunshine for at least part of the day. The foliage is topped by a mass of short racemes of four-petalled flowers that are as happy in containers as they are in the ground and require little maintenance and minimal watering. Grows to a height of 15cm with a spread of at least 60cm.
