A shade dwelling majestic perennial which brings height and elegance to your garden. Actaea simplex Pink Spike is the perfect plant for a shady spot which does not dry out. The dramatic clumps of showy, dark mahogany ferny foliage are accentuated by tall, architectural, highly scented, pale pink, bottlebrush-like flowers from August to October. Each bloom matures to a darker pink, and offers a feast for every passing butterfly, moth and bee. Attractive berries follow soon afterwards and bring the plant its common name, Baneberry.Actaea simplex Pink Spike is rabbit and deer resistant, if this is an issue in your garden, and will grow to a mature height of approximately 1.5m spreading to around 75cm. Actaea prefer to be grown in moist but not boggy soil in dappled, part or full shade to keep a good foliage colour. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which dies back below the ground over winter and returns the following spring.
