Sedum spectabile 'Autumn Joy' is a wonderfully fashionable succulent with fleshy oblong leaves carried from March to the first frosts. Flower stems emerge from the clumps of foliage in July to hold large, flat clusters of starry flowers right through to October. These intriguing blooms change in colour from greenish-pink buds to pale pink, then deep pink umbels - culminating in brownish seedheads in mid to late autumn. The nectar-rich flowers are a magnet for pollinators, particularly honeybees. Seedheads, if left to dry on the plants, will offer valuable, architectural winter interest. Small wonder that this colour-changing and interesting sedum holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its reliable and outstanding performance in the garden. Sedum spectabile 'Autumn Joy' is a fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which becomes dormant over winter and then reinvigorates the following spring. Prefers well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade and reaches a height and spread of 60cm.
