A dwarf variety of this easy and dependable genus, Geum coccineum Koi bears single, bright orange-red flowers (and yes, they bear an uncanny resemblance to the colour of a Koi carp), from late spring right through until late summer. Forming a low mound of fuzzy, evergreen (to -15 C), dark green foliage, this compact cultivar sends up wiry, branching stems, freely bearing these striking flowers for nearly half the year. With its diminutive stature, Koi is one of the few geum varieties suitable for a container, as well as the front of a border or edge of a path. Geum is not fussy and will grow almost anywhere providing it is not in full shade or waterlogged. For it to fully thrive, plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. H&S: 30cm x 30cm. Hardy, semi-evergreen perennial.
