Tell Me More...
Commonly known as Foxgloves, Digitalis are nostalgic, much-loved woodland plants adored by bees and pollinators. Biennial Digitalis purpurea subsp. heywoodii 'Silver Fox' blooms during the second year of growth before setting seed. Grey-green foliage is covered in a velvety, textured coating and gives way to dramatic spires of clean white flowers with speckled interiors between May and July. Perfect for cutting to add height and elegance to floral arrangements.Digitalis purpurea subsp. heywoodii 'Silver Fox' grows best in humus-rich, moist soil with either full sun or partial shade. Suits contemporary designs, traditional gardens, and large container planting. If you garden on heavy clay soil, enrich the area prior to planting with leaf mould and add grit to the base of planting holes to aid drainage. A hardy biennial which reaches a height of 75cm and spreads to 45cm, propagate by sowing the tiny seeds onto the surface of seed compost in mid-summer to flower the following year.
