Exciting new arrival for 2024 which, as the name suggests, is perfect for seasonal decorations as well as providing valuable, gap-filling verdancy throughout the year. Ilex meserveae ‘Jingle Berry’ is an unusual, smaller female holly with glossy, evergreen foliage and an abundance of bright red berries in autumn and winter if there is a pollinating male holly of any variety close by. Berries provide a bountiful feast for birds and other wildlife and are sought out by florists as the branches of red ‘jewels’ are perfect for a vase or bouquet. One of these beauties in your garden, either in the ground or in a container, will provide seasonal enrichment indoors and out for years to come. Ilex meserveae ‘Jingle Berry’ likes moist, well-drained soil of any kind with any aspect other than north facing. Grows best in full sun or partial shade and is a hardy (H6), evergreen shrub which reaches a height of 1m and a spread of up to 80cm, so is ideal for a smaller space.
