A pretty, variegated Holly - Ilex alt. 'Golden King' adds evergreen interest to your garden with its glossy green leaves, splashed with a contrasting creamy-yellow at the edges. Awarded a prestigious award of garden merit by the RHS for its numerous great qualities, Ilex alt. 'Golden King' is a hybrid descendant of our traditional dark green English holly. This interesting variety was first discovered over 100 years ago and is not quite as prickly.Tiny white flowers appear on the stems in June and July, maturing into bright red berries in autumn and winter.Great to provide wildlife-friendly hedging or screening in your garden with a splash of year-round colour, Ilex alt. 'Golden King' will reach an eventual height of 6m and a spread of 3m.Plant this shrub in moist, well-drained soil of any type in full sun or dappled shade where it will thrive best and show off its colours..
