Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
From mid to late winter, the bare branches of Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold Promise' erupt in large, tassel-like flowers. Crimped, highly fragrant, and golden yellow, these delicate looking blooms provide a burst of colour and sumptuous, zesty fragrance to the garden at a time when it is most needed. The award-winning Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold Promise' differs from other cultivars with its denser, almost thicket-forming habit, and more curled up flowers. As an added bonus, in autumn, the lush, green foliage develops glowing tones of orange and yellow before dropping for winter. For even greater effect, we love seeing these underplanted with winter flowers such as hellebore, cyclamen, winter aconites and snowdrops. Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold Promise' prefers moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil which is acid to neutral in pH. Plant in full sun or partial shade, in an open yet protected site. H&S: 4m. Hardy, deciduous shrub.
