A delightful trio which includes two new varieties for 2024. All three plants in our ‘Uplifting Hamamelis Collection’ are sure to make your spirits soar when they bloom successionally from December to March on leafless branches. Each of the intriguing flowers has a robust calyx from where elongated, tassel-like petals emerge and offer a spicy, citrus scent to enliven and enhance your planted spaces - they can even be cut for a vase inside your home. Verdant foliage is borne after the flowers, from March through to November time, and puts on a colourful display through autumn with shades of yellow, orange and red.
Uplifting Hamamelis Collection comprises newcomer and Award of Garden Merit holder x intermedia ‘Rubin’ with ruby red flowers; established favourite x intermedia ‘Orange Beauty’ with fiery orange-red flowers; and new arrival vernalis ‘Amanda’ with its generous, golden yellow tassels.
All three prefer moist, well-drained soil of any kind except chalk based. Plant in full sun or partial shade and these hardy (H5), deciduous shrubs will reach a height and spread of around 4 metres once mature.
