From mid to late winter, the bare branches of Hamamelis x intermedia 'Orange Beauty' erupt in highly fragrant, tassel-like flowers. Twisted and crimped yellow-orange petals are tinted red purple at the base. The effect from afar is one of a glowing, coppery orange bringing a welcome burst of warmth in the garden at a time when it is needed most. Hamamelis x intermedia 'Orange Beauty' is also admired for the myriad of colour changes undergone by its foliage. First emerging yellow-green flushed with purple, these develop into rich, dark green, before turning to fiery shades of yellow and orange in autumn. We adore seeing hamamelis underplanted with winter flowers such as hellebore, cyclamen, winter aconites and snowdrops. Hamamelis x intermedia 'Orange Beauty' prefers moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil which is acid to neutral. Plant in full sun or partial shade, in an open yet protected site. H&S: 4m. Hardy, deciduous shrub.
