Elegant and graceful, Erythronium californicum 'White Beauty' almost seems to glimmer and sparkle - brightening your garden during March and April, with leaves remaining until July for extended interest. Also commonly known as Dog's Tooth Violet because the bulb resembles a canine tooth, 'White Beauty' is a wonderful woodland or shade-loving plant. Rosettes of glossy, green, mottled foliage bear strong stems, each holding up to 10 nodding, creamy-white blooms around 6cm wide with yellow markings and red-brown throat.Erythronium californicum 'White Beauty' has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding and reliable performance in the garden. As the name suggests 'White Beauty' originates from California and the star-like flowers closely resemble lilies - with re-curved petals and prominent, bright stamens. Each plant will reach a height of 30cm will naturalise, spreading happily in a border or spring pot. Plant in autumn where bulbs benefit from moist, well-drained soil and full to partial shade.
