Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
Marvellously mottled foliage from March through to July brings low-growing interest, accompanied by gloriously sunny yellow blooms in March and April. Erythronium tuolemnense ‘Pagoda’ is a wonderful woodland plant with an intriguing common name which is drawn from the shape of the bulbs. Each plant bears up to ten blooms which are up to 5cm wide with semi-reflexed petals and pronounced stamen. A member of the Liliaceae family originating from California, ‘Pagoda’ holds the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance and reliability in the garden. Each plant will reach a height of 35cm and spread up to 25cm in a shady border or spring pot. Plant the bulbs in August to September in rich, moist soil which can drain easily. Erythronium tuolemnense ‘Pagoda’ likes a sheltered position in partial to full shade where it will naturalise and for even more of its elegant beauty each spring.
