Lavatera is a genus of approximately 25 species of flowering plants within the Malvaceae family, native to the Mediterranean, central Asia and North America. The genus is named after 17th century naturalists, the Lavater brothers.
Lavatera are annual, biennial or perennial subshrubs with elongated and palmately lobed leaves and bushy foliage that bear large hollyhock-like flowers.
