Heucherella

History and Origin:

Heucherella are evergreen perennial plants in the Saxifrage family and is a hybrid that has been made by crossing a Heuchera with a Tiarella. Heucherella are commonly known as foamy bells, which is taken from a combination of the common name for Heuchera 'coral bells' and the common name for Tiarella 'foam flower'. First bred in 1912 in France, for a while there were only a limited number of varieties of this plant, but more and more continue to be developed and now there are plenty to choose from.

About:

Heucherella offer great foliage interest, as they take the bright foliage colouring from the parent Heuchera and the dark leaf patterns and shapes from the parent Tiarella. Heucherella form small clumps of evergreen foliage with upright flower stalks that bear small bell-shaped flowers in late spring/early summer to late summer. Perfect for groundcover, planting in containers or in borders and beds.
