Tell Me More...
A new arrival for 2024 which crosses atropurpureum and schubertii to bring the best of both for your garden. Bright green, strap-shaped foliage emerges in March and lasts until May. This is followed by the flowers which reach a height of around 60cm and are held on twisted, twirly stems – each holding and umbel of star-shaped blooms, up to 50 or more at a time! Flowers can be 30cm across and offer a generous feast for pollinators as well as lasting twice as long as many other allium – with blooms commencing in late May and lasting through to July. This longevity also extends to a vase so Allium schubertii ‘Magic’ will delight you and your visitors indoors too. Plant this quaintly enticing bloom in autumn for blooms the following year. Allium schubertii ‘Magic’ likes a well-drained soil of any kind and once established, is drought tolerant. Position in full sun with a south or west facing aspect for best results. A hardy (H4), bulbous perennial which can tolerate temperatures down
