Allium Summer Drummer is a tall stunning ornamental onion that is ideal for the centre of your herbaceous border. The globular blooms consist of a myriad of bell-shaped flowers which are shades of cerise pink with some white. The flowers wave aloft a tall green stem with narrow-leaved leaves lying close to the ground. These striking seed heads are amazing when left into the autumn and can be dried for decoration. Summer Drummer would make a stunning architectural focus if planted as a clump in a container. These hardy perennials grow well in well-drained soils that are situated in full sun but sheltered from the wind. The striking flowers last for up to 2 weeks when cut for a floral arrangement or a vase. Planted in September-November these statuesque alliums will bloom in May - July. If these alliums outgrow their spot then the clumps can be divided after flowering.
