Tell Me More...
Paeonia lactiflora ‘King's Day’ is a majestic herbaceous peony variety, renowned for its vibrant, orange-red blooms and regal presence in the garden. This cultivar produces large, semi-double flowers with ruffled petals which make a standout addition to borders and containers. Each scented bloom measures approximately 15-20cm in diameter, as makes a long-lasting cut flower for a vase. Blooming in late spring to early summer, the flowers are complemented by lush, dark green foliage - a striking contrast to the vivid blooms. This hardy (H6) peony thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers any well-drained, fertile soil, except chalk based. It is relatively low-maintenance and exhibits high resistance to pests and diseases, making it a reliable choice for gardeners. Mature plants reach a height and spread of around 90cm. Known for its longevity, ‘King's Day’ can flourish in the same spot for many years, adding enduring beauty to the garden.
