Tell Me More...
Winter flowering honeysuckles are a delight to have in the garden, and Lonicera purpusii x 'Winter Beauty' is one of the finest varieties you will find available - holding the Award of Garden Merit from the RHS as recognition of this. Clusters of beautifully scented, creamy-white tubular flowers are borne on bare stems from December through to March - a time when there is often little interest in the garden. Plant in containers, raised beds and wildlife gardens - ensuring it is located where you can enjoy its delicious fragrance and watch as the early bumblebees arrive for a welcome winter feast.Allow this hardy shrub plenty of space to spread in your garden; perhaps against a wall where it will reach an eventual height of 2m, and a spread of up to 2.5m. A sunny location is best, although Lonicera purpusii x 'Winter Beauty' will tolerate a little shade. Moist, well-drained soil of any type suits this fragrant and impactful plant. Fresh green foliage appears in spring, following the pretty blooms, ensuring Lonicera purpusii x 'Winter Beauty' adds year-round interest to your garden.
