Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
As its name suggests this Euonymus is a compact variety with a neat habit which makes is ideal for smaller gardens or that little corner of your plot that needs something bring it to the fore. Euonymus alatus Compactus is like its larger cousins in form although it only grows to a height and spread of 150cm. It is, however, second to none for autumn colour. The green foliage turns to a cerise pink and then heats up to a glowing rosy-red in autumn, whilst the inconspicuous flowers from early Summer develop into red-purple seed cases which open to spectacular bright orange. Plant this Euonymus in moist but well drained soil in full sun with a southerly or westerly aspect in order to enjoy its resplendent late season colour. Mulch annually and prune out any crossing or dead branches in Spring to maintain.
