Tell Me More...
Clematis Montana var. Rubens is a charming spring climber. Rubens flowers with thousands of pastel pink blooms, enveloping the plant during April, May and early June. This beautiful clematis flowers with such profusion you will barely be able to see the green foliage - a foliage which takes on bronze hues as the weather warms. Carrying a subtle sweet fragrance, plant this vigorous clematis against a wall next to a door or over an archway and enjoy its qualities. Clematis Montana var. Rubens prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade with feet in shade. A fully hardy perennial, given the RHS hardiness rating of H5, and should not require any protection of winter in most of the UK, in an average winter. Reaching a height of around 8m and spreading to around 2.5m. Flowering on the previous year's shoots, no regular pruning is required only prune to the size you desire.
