A vigorous climber, Clematis montana var. grandiflora sparkles in spring and early summer, when the crisp white blooms contrast against dark green foliage. Scented, nectar-rich blooms envelope the self-clinging, trifoliate foliage. Beautiful, vigorous, and festooned with flowers, she will quickly clothe walls or sheds, prompting bees and butterflies to buzz with excitement.Known commonly as the White Anemone Clematis, Clematis montana var. grandiflora has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Clematis montana var. grandiflora prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade with roots in the shade. A fully hardy perennial, given the RHS hardiness rating of H5, and should not require any winter protection in most of the U. Reaching a height of around 12m and spreading to around 4m. Flowering on the previous year's shoots, no regular pruning is required, simply cut to the size you require.
