Clematis montana ‘Morning Yellow’ is a delightful clematis which produces young flowers in hues of a light creamy-yellow which mature to crisp white. The flowers are semi-doubles and are in their pomp in April, May and sometimes into June. This is a floriferous variety, with the many flowers offset beautifully by the dark green foliage. Montana varieties are rightly famed for their ease of growth and vigour. ‘Morning Yellow’ can be trained up vertical structures such as a wall, obelisk, fence, and pergola, or be left to scramble through shrubs. Prefers to be grown in sun or partial shade, planted in moist, fertile well-drained soil – ensure the soil does not become too wet, nor too dry. Reaches a mature un-pruned height of 8m and a spread of 2.5m. This is an RHS Clematis Pruning Group 1, which means prune to environment after flowering. This unique coloured clematis is an excellent choice for your garden and will look spectacular in full flower.
