Bergenia

History and Origin:

Bergenia is a genus of approximately 7 flowering plants within the Saxifragaceae family. They are most commonly referred to as ‘Elephant Ears’ due to the large paddle-shaped foliage. They are native to temperate regions of central and eastern Asia. Bergenia were named after the German botanist and physician Karl August von Bergen (1704-1759).

About:

Bergenia are evergreen, perennial plants that are native to Russia where large plumes of leathery foliage that are attached to stately, thick stems. Displayed upon these impressive stems are dense clusters of bell-shaped blooms of pink or white shades that flourish during the spring.
