History and Origin:

Aquilegia are a genus that is within the Ranunculaceae family, native to north eastern America. The name ‘Aquilegia’ derives from the Latin word ‘aquila’, meaning Eagle. This is due to the unique flower shape which evidently resemble an eagle’s talon.

About:

Aquilegia are herbaceous perennials with delicate double blooms that nod in the breeze above layered shifts of grey-green foliage. Aquilegia are best grown in flower beds and borders, suiting a variety of garden sizes and styles.
