Intriguing and elegant, the blooms of Astrantia major 'Rosemarie' will be visited by bees and other pollinators from May to August.Compact clusters of nectar-rich, silvery flowers with light green and pink flushes bloom on long wiry stems above palmately lobed foliage, giving you four months of colour. Posies of small flowers are surrounded by ruff-like bracts, resembling little pincushions, hence the common name 'Hattie's Pincushion'.Perfect for planting in a shady location, and great for weed-suppressing groundcover beneath trees and shrubs. Alternatively, grown in a shady border where other plants may struggle. Well-loved by florists, the blooms make excellent cut flowers lasting well in vases where they will add texture to your fresh or dried arrangements. Reaching a height of approximately 70cm and spreading to 30cm, Astrantia major 'Rosemarie' prefers to be growing in moist but well-drained soil in a partially shaded spot. A fully hardy perennial to -20 C and lower, the foliage will become dormant over winter, ready to sprout again each spring.
