Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
The immediate impression when you approach ‘Dark Freckles’ is the beauty of the sky-blue petals. As you come closer, you notice the deep ocean blue freckling, as if an artist has flicked the blue captured from an island lagoon. The whole effect, combined with the heart shaped foliage and long-flowering period, ensures this is one of the most sought after of violas. These striking blooms go beautifully with spring bulbs, such as daffodils. Let not the dainty appearance have you fooled; these little perennials originate from a wild species found throughout eastern North America and are surprisingly robust. Perfect for planting beneath deciduous shrubs such as roses, at the front of borders, along path edges or in containers. Prefers fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. H&S: 20cm x 30cm. Hardy perennial.
