Viola cornuta ‘Penny Peach Jump Up’ is early flowering and will greet you and your visitors with a crowd of gleeful grins. Violas are often referred to as having upper petals and lower ‘face’ petals, with linear markings to these ‘face’ petals referred to as ‘whiskers’. This explains why flowers are reminiscent of furry, jovial, smiling faces when they appear in autumn to spring. Foliage is beneficially lush – enhancing the flowers so that your baskets, containers and borders really will bubble with excitement as flowers spill over to soften any hard edges. Blooms are edible and can be used as a garnish for salads and cakes. Viola cornuta ‘Penny Peach Jump Up’ prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil of any kind, in sun or partial shade. Plants have great heat and cold tolerance and reach a height of approximately 20cm and spreading to 35cm. As hardy (H4) perennials they will thrive outside with no winter protection required except in the very coldest ones.
