Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
Originating from the dry, rocky parts of the Mediterranean, Santolina chamaecyparissus 'Yellow Buttons diminutive and vibrant, evergreen shrub with narrow, woolly, dissected, silvery leaves which are retained all year for gap-filling interest. From June to August long stems bearing bright yellow, button-like flowerheads add delightfully sunny hues to the garden and attract pollinators into the garden. This hardy, evergreen shrub is ideal for providing year-round interest in a sunny, well-drained border or rock garden and also makes excellent groundcover, edging or low hedging due to its robust nature. Plant alongside other Mediterranean companions such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, and sage for an aromatic, sun-baked and drought tolerant display. Prefers poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun H&S: 50cm. Hardy, evergreen shrub, able to withstand temperatures down to -15C without additional protection. Avoid excessive winter wet for best results and trim back after flowering to maintain a dense, compact appearance.
