Valued for its tenacity even in difficult, dry shade, Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' can be relied upon to form a carpet of bright, silvery foliage. This fast-growing perennial is a close relative of the common stinging nettle, though with no sting (hence the common name). Leaves are downy and decorative; silver-white with narrow green margins. Clear pale pink flowers appear mid to late summer and are highly attractive to pollinators. 'Beacon Silver' can be extremely useful in covering ground in fairly 'mean' conditions where little else will grow - among trees and shrubs, along the bottom of a hedge, or in the rain and sun shadow of a wall. It can also be used in more favourable, moist, fertile conditions, though be warned it may become invasive in these circumstances.Tolerant of a variety of soil types, in full or partial shade. When planting in particularly dry conditions, keep watered until established. H&S: 20cm x 60cm. Fully hardy, evergreen perennial.
