One of the earliest flowering pansies, ‘Frizzle Sizzle Burgundy’ produces an abundance of large, double, purple-red blooms with the much-loved pansy scent. Unique in the pansy world, each petal has crinkled, or sizzled, edges and brings a riot of colour from October to April. Perfect for your baskets, borders, containers and window boxes, Pansy ‘Frizzle Sizzle Burgundy’ grows to a height and spread of around 25-30cm. Prefers a spot in well-drained soil of any kind which benefits from full sun or partial shade. ‘Frizzle Sizzle Burgundy’ is a hardy (H6) annual requiring no additional protection from winter cold.
Also known by the botanical name, Viola x wittrockiana, the sweetly scented blooms can be eaten raw adding fabulous colour to salads, with a slightly bitter, grassy flavour. Alternatively crystallise the blooms for a colourful, decorative garnish.
