Tell Me More...
Nicotiana sanderae 'Perfume Lime' is a more recent member of a family of plants which has been popular for generations. With divine scent that puts on its best performance as the sun goes does - this makes a fabulous, zesty coloured addition to your summer garden, especially around entertainment areas. Serene, elegant and graceful, Nicotiana offer airy, upward-facing, trumpet-shaped blooms in an unusual and exciting zesty lime colour. Excellent as cut flowers for your home these beautiful blooms will last well in a vase so you can enjoy the perfume indoors too. Nicotiana is a distant cousin of the indigenous American 'tobacco plant' and is often referred to by this name. The name originates from Jean Nicot, a French diplomat in the 1500's, who was convinced of the medicinal properties within the tobacco leaves and presented it to the French royalty as a remedy for headaches. Nicotiana are loved by bees and prefer to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. They will bloom through the summer and well into autumn too - reaching a height of approximately 50cm and spread 30cm. Nicotiana are tender annuals from which seed can be collected if you wish to propagate the following year.
