Tell Me More...
As the common name suggests this beautiful group of shrubs are native to China, and Japan so offer a sense of Eastern promise to your planting. Loropetalum chinense 'Iceberry' has a subtle beauty and charm all of its own. With graceful, semi-pendulous branches the newer foliage emerges a pale bronze-green colour before turning darker green as it matures. Flowers are mass produced in May and June in creamy white clusters which are perfect for cutting to take indoors where you can further benefit from the sweet perfume. A pollinator-friendly plant which can be grown as a hedge or planted singly in a container or border. Reaches a mature height and spread of 1.5 metres with bushy foliage which remains attractive throughout the year.Loropetalum chinense 'Iceberry' prefers to be grown in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in a semi-shaded spot, although it will tolerate full sun providing the soil is kept moist. A hardy, evergreen shrub tolerating temperatures to -10 degrees C, which should not require winter protection throughout most of the UK.
