Shrubs which pack a punch and offer delightful ‘fringe benefits’ when they flower successionally from February to May! ‘Charismatic Loropetalum chinense Collection’ offers dark, dramatic leaves which are retained all year – adding gap filling interest to your borders or strategically placed containers and as low, illuminating hedges. This bushy foliage is accompanied by intriguing, elongated petals in rich shades of pink, red and bright white to light up the garden at what can be a sparse time of year. Flowers also spread sweet, alluring perfume as they grow. Great for a vase, container or gap in the border. ‘Charismatic Loropetalum chinense Collection’ comprises exciting new arrival, ‘Iceberry’, which is H4 hardy and produces white blooms in April and May over bronze tinged green foliage - H&S: 1.5m; purple leaved, H4 hardy var. rubrum ‘Fire Dance’ with its vibrant red flowers from February to April and H&S: 1m; and dark leaved, pink flowering half-hardy (H3) var. rubrum ‘Black Pearl’ which also blooms from February to April, reaching H&S: 1.5m and is best for containers if you garden in colder parts of the UK. Plants prefer moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in sun or partial shade and avoid a north facing aspect for best results.
