Tell Me More...
Lamprocapnos spectabilis ‘Gold Heart’ is an unusual variety with golden foliage which you may well know by its other name, Dicentra. The glowing foliage emerges in March and is retained through until late summer for gap-filling interest. Characteristic heart shaped flowers in vibrant pink are borne from April to May, each with the characteristic white ‘teardrop’ shape emerging and hanging down. Blooms are held on strong stems appearing in graceful arches, adding sophisticated elegance to your garden. Much favoured by bees and other pollinators, stems can also be cut for adding to a vase or other floral display. Lamprocapnos spectabilis ‘Gold Heart’ prefers a spot in moist, well-drained soil of neutral or alkaline pH. Plant in a spot with partial shade and in any aspect other than south-facing, avoiding heavy clay soils. A hardy (H6), herbaceous perennial which matures to a height of 60cm, with a spread of 90cm.
