Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
One of the more upright varieties of Helleborus with beautiful double blooms from January through to April each year. Helleborus orientalis ‘Double Yellow’ is a sophisticated flower with a lemony hue and a captivating central corona with zesty accents and pronounced stamen which give it an exotic air. Brilliant for early pollinators, stems can also be cut to add to a floral display and their long flowering time of 4 months means there will be plentiful supplies once plants have established. Flowers are held above leathery, palmate foliage which is incredibly robust and adds interest throughout the year, although faded leaves are best cut back so as not to distract from the beauty of the blooms. Helleborus orientalis ‘Double Yellow’ likes a spot in humus rich, moist, well-drained soil of any kind. Position in partial to full shade with any aspect other than south facing. A fully hardy, evergreen perennial which reaches a height and spread of 45cm in maturity.
