Tell Me More...
A rare, unusual and exciting new arrival for 2024. Helleborus orientalis ‘Anemone Slaty Blue’ is one of the darkest varieties available, with its steely purple tones accented by blue-black markings to each rounded sepal (these form the six petal-like structures on each bloom). To the centre of each is an anemone like corona, surrounded by a ruff of smaller petals in shades of purple and pale green – a truly beautiful bloom to behold! Flowers are borne from January right through to April – offering up to four months of colour. Foliage is retained for most, if not all, of the year and is dark, glossy green – the perfect backdrop for the arching stems above. We recommend you remove any faded foliage as flowers appear, so as not to detract from the astounding blooms above. Helleborus orientalis ‘Anemone Slaty Blue’ prefers a spot in moist, well-drained soil of any kind except sand based. Position in partial to full shade and this fully hardy, semi-evergreen perennial matures to a height and spread of around 35cm.
