A collection of Lenten Rose, each with beautiful anemone-like centres. The intricate blooms are complemented by dark green, leathery foliage, which remains evergreen in most climates, providing year-round interest.
The ‘Helleborus Anemone Collection’ comprises; orientalis ‘Aubergine with White Edge’, orientalis 'Anemone Green' and orientalis 'Anemone Pink'.
The Cornish refer to Helleborus plants as ‘The Virgin’s Mantle’. In Medieval times they were said to be good for breaking bad spells and curses and were often planted next to the front door. Today they are known for their unsurpassed winter beauty.
Helleborus orientalis thrive in partial to full shade and prefer well-drained, humus-rich soil, and are particularly well-suited for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and underplanting beneath deciduous trees. Fully hardy and reaching a mature height and spread of around 35cm, they are also noted for their resilience, being both deer-resistant and relatively low-maintenance once established. Long-lasting, they will form attractive clumps over time.
