Tell Me More...
This is a new, more compact variety of deutzia which makes up for its diminutive stature by bearing larger than average flowers from May to July. Deutzia 'Raspberry Sundae' offers clusters of pretty, pink flowers, each with darker magenta purple splotches to the tips - as if the blooms have been especially accentuated to ensure they are noticed. Foliage is simply shaped with delicately serrated edges and emerges in March, lasting into November for gap-filling interest. In autumn, before leaves fall, this herbaceous shrub turns to glorious gold for a finale. In additions, flowering stems draw in hordes of pollinators with their deliciously sweet perfume and ample supplies of nectar. Deutzia 'Raspberry Sundae' prefers to be planted in moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or partial shade. A hardy, herbaceous shrub which reaches a height and spread of 1m - making it ideal for the mid-tier of a border or a pot on a patio or balcony.
