Tell Me More...
Extraordinarily eye-catching, Eryngium x zabelii 'Big Blue' is perfect for a sunny spot. Multitudes of large, oval flowerheads, up to 10cm across, are made up of scores of intense, almost iridescent, blue flowers. Each globe is surrounded by spiny, silvery-blue, ruff-like petals. Held high on strong bright blue stems above prickly, silver tinted foliage, Eryngium x zabelii 'Big Blue' is a wonderful way to add texture to your pots or open ground and is suited to almost any gardening style. Furthermore, blooms are much loved by our pollinating friends, who will come visiting to partake of the rich nectar and are stunning as either cut fresh or as dried flowers for arrangements in your home. Eryginium x zabelii 'Big Blue' has received the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding and reliable performance in the garden. Plants are drought tolerant once established and prefer well-drained soil in full sun. A hardy herbaceous perennial growing to a height of 75cm and spread of 60cm and will flourish outside all year round with no winter protection required.
