When it comes to planting for beauty and scent in a drier spot, the award-winning Dianthus ‘Widecombe Fair’ takes some beating. This dainty spreading evergreen has grey-green foliage and, throughout June to September, produces masses of antique blush-pink double flowers. These are particularly good for cutting due to their strong, straight stems and impressive vase life. To encourage continuous blooming water plants regularly; otherwise, expect more of a repeat-flowering habit. Dianthus ‘Widecombe Fair’ is perfect for the front of a border or path edge. We love seeing its elegant flowers mingle with other soft pastel tones, and a dash of rich plum added for contrast. Think Erigeron karvinskianus, Stachys ‘Summer Crush’, Digitalis ‘Apricot Beauty’, and Allium sphaerocephalon. Cottage garden perfection! For best results grow in full sun in well-draining, neutral to alkaline soil. Very easy to propagate from cuttings. ‘Widecombe Fair’ is very hardy, able to tolerate temperatures between -15°C and -20°C. H: 40cm S: 50cm.
