Rudbeckia

History and Origin:

Rudbeckia is a genus within the Asteraceae family, native to Eastern and Central North America. They are more commonly known as coneflowers or black-eyes-susans. The name for Rudbeckia was given by Carolus Linnaeus in honour of his University teacher, Professor Olof Rudbeck (1660-1740).

About:

Rudbeckia are biennials, annuals or rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plants with clusters of quilled, daisy-like petals that are produced in a wide spectrum of colour. Slender petals surround a large central conical disk. These are held upon slender stems and attractive foliage.
