A recent new development, Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Viette’s Little Suzy’ is a prolific bloomer with large, yellow daisy-like blooms and rich, dark central cones from August through to October time. Flowers are followed by pom-pom seedheads - loved by birds and other wildlife. Straight stems, up to 60cm tall, are also ideal as cut flowers – either for a bouquet or a vase inside your home, where they will last up to 10 days. Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Viette’s Little Suzy’ likes a spot in full sun or partial shade which benefits from a moist, well-drained, fertile soil of any kind except heavy clay. In an exposed spot we recommend placing supports around your plants early in the year – this will hold stems upright in the event of heavy rain or strong winds and plants will grow through these and disguise them as they mature. As a slightly more compact rudbeckia, spreading to 60cm over 2-5 years. Plants are perfect for the centre of a border or for growing in pots which can be moved around the garden to optimise displays.
